arena
is home to the
Edmonton Oilers
of the
National Hockey League
(NHL). The arena was completed in
1974
. It seats 17,100 for hockey, including 39 luxury suites and 16 skyboxes. It is named for
Rexall
products, a subsidary of
Katz Group Canada
. A large bronze statue of Canadian hockey icon and former Oilers Captain
Wayne Gretzky
is situated outside of Rexall Place. On
October 15

, Rexall Place also became home to the
Edmonton Roadrunners
, Edmonton's new
American Hockey League
team.
