Revival (Play)

A revival is a restaging of a former hit play at a later date. New material may be added. A filmed version of a play is said to be an adaptation. This requires the writing of a screenplay. Because so many of the shows playing on Broadway at any one time are revivals, and the material has often proven to be winning material, the Tony Awards consider revivals separately from original productions.
