Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas is the home base for the Houston Texans, a professional NFL football team. It served as the host facility for Super Bowl XXXVIII on February 1, 2004. The game saw the New England Patriots defeat the Carolina Panthers, 32-29, but the game was overshadowed by a controversial halftime show. Reliant Stadium is part of what is now Reliant Park, and was built to accommodate the Texans. It also holds the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which moved there from the Reliant Astrodome, former home of Major League Baseball's Houston Astros. The entire complex is named after Reliant Energy, which is a major electricity and natural gas provider to the city. The stadium has a retractable roof.
