Regal Zonophone Records
was a
British
record label
formed in
1932
, through a merger of
Regal Records
and
Zonophone Records
. Originally Regal Zonophone handled the American releases from
Okeh Records
,
Victor Records
and
Columbia Records
. In the sixties artists like
The Move
,
Procol Harum
,
Joe Cocker
and
T Rex
joined the label. When these artists left the label lost it impetus and it was closed down by
EMI Records
, but was reopened at the end of the nineties.
Trivia
Regal Zonophone is one of the few record labels commemorated in a song, namely "Magdalene (My Regal Zonophone)" from the album
Shine On Brightly
by RZ artists Procol Harum.
