Raubwirtschaft

Raubwirtschaft, German for plunder economy, is a term for a form of colonialism where the goal is purely the plunder of the wealth and resources of a colony with no pretence of "civilizing" or aiding the native inhabitants. The term is almost always used to describe some late nineteenth century colonial practices in Africa. The Congo Free State of King Leopold II is frequently described as a Raubwirtschaft.
