Rancho Santa Fe is a census-designated place located in San Diego County, California. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 3,252. It is the richest community in the United States with at least 1,000 households.

Geography

Rancho Santa Fe is located at 33°1'26" North, 117°12'0" West (33.023943, -117.200110). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 17.8 km² (6.9 mi²). 17.7 km² (6.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.87% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 3,252 people, 1,204 households, and 947 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 183.8/km² (476.2/mi²). There are 1,339 housing units at an average density of 75.7/km² (196.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 93.33% White, 0.46% African American, 0.15% Native American, 2.77% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 2.15% from other races, and 1.08% from two or more races. 5.32% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,204 households out of which 33.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.4% are married couples living together, 4.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.3% are non-families. 17.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.70 and the average family size is 3.01. In the CDP the population is spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 2.9% from 18 to 24, 17.7% from 25 to 44, 33.0% from 45 to 64, and 20.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 47 years. For every 100 females there are 95.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.7 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $200,000+, and the median income for a family is $200,000+. Males have a median income of $100,000+ versus $86,933 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $113,132. 3.5% of the population and 2.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 0.0% of those under the age of 18 and 5.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
