Rage Against the Machine is the debut album by metal and hip hop band Rage Against the Machine, released November 3, 1992. As one of the first full-length fusions of the widely disparate genres, Rage Against the Machine is a landmark album, setting the stage for the late-1990s boom in more pop-oriented fusions like Limp Bizkit, Korn and Linkin Park. The album cover (at right) featured the controversial photograph of Thich Quang Duc self-immolating in protest of the Vietnam War. The album peaked at #1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart, and at #45 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The song "Wake Up" is featured in the credits of The Matrix. In 2001 Q magazine named Rage Against the Machine as one of the 50 Heaviest Albums Of All Time.
