Rit Brick City SingersThe RIT Brick City Singers is an all-male A Cappella group at the Rochester Institute of Technology. History Background The Brick City Singers, acronymed "BCS", began singing together in 1999. The Brick City Singers are a subset of the main RIT chorus, the RIT Singers. They are primarily based in the area of Rochester, NY, most notably on the campus of the Rochester Institute of Technology. They often perform with other a cappella groups and have been seen performing as far from Rochester as Baltimore, MD and Boston, MA. Recent The group gained notariety when it was selected as a quarterfinalist group and performed at a Northeast divisional of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) at Brandeis University in February of 2004. The following academic year, BCS hosted one of the MidAtlantic divisional rounds at RIT. The group's biggest annual event, known as the annual Night of A Cappella, is held in the springtime on the campus of RIT. The event typically features two or three guest groups along with the hosts themselves. Performances The Brick City Singers are obviously most known for their musical performances, although they have also been known to perform comedy skits, show produced video clips, and engage the audience for participation during shows. The music performed by the group is comprised largely of original a cappella arrangements of popular songs, but the group also performs some more traditional pieces.
