Rgm-79 Gm

Though many types of GMs have been produced by the Earth Federation during the One Year War, the RGM-79 GM was the Federation's first true mass-produced mobile suit, based off the famous RX-78-2 Gundam, in the war against the Principality of Zeon Forces, produced along side with the RB-79 Ball. Over the next fifteen years, began to rebuild its military power, by developing newer versions of the GM. The GM was simply armed, with a powerful (albeit short-ranged) beam spray gun or a 90mm machinegun and a single beam saber (although some early models did have two like the Gundam). A pair of 60mm vulcans in the head gave pilots backup firepower that was highly effective against aircraft and ground vehicles but woefully inadequate against mobile suits. It was highly mobile, with a maximum thruster acceleration of nearly a full gee and a maximum running ground speed of over 60 miles per hour (102 km/h). When introduced, the GM's performance outstripped Zeon's standard MS-06F Zaku II nearly two to one, and was a more than equal match to the commander type MS-06S and MS-07B Gouf. Concerned at their loss of superiority, Zeon would be spurred to respond with significantly advanced mobile suits in the MS-09 Dom and MS-14 Gelgoog, though development on these projects would be delayed by the monomaniacal focus of high-level Zeon commanders on catching and destroying the White Base and its RX-78-2 Gundam. In the end, the Dom would not be deployed until late November, and the Gelgoog would not see its first deployment until the last two weeks of the One Year War, and would not see battle until the Battle of A Baoa Qu of December 31st UC 0079 through January 1st UC 0080. The GM series was first introduced through the RGM-79(E) GM Type-E. This design was more closely related to the Gundam, but it was deemed still too costly. The RGM-79(G) GM Ground Type also preceeded the basic RGM-79 GM but it was only produced in limited numbers. During the One Year War, the GM was often paired with the RB-79 Ball mobile pod. The basic RGM-79 GM design would later be upgraded into the RGM-79R GM II during the early UC 0080's. The successcor of the GM series would be the RGM-89 Jegan. Until that time, the GM became heavily modified and variants became very common. The variants include:
