Quilcene, WashingtonQuilcene is a census-designated place located in Jefferson County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 591. Geography is located at 47°49'55" North, 122°53'7" West (47.831838, -122.885339). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 26.2 km² (10.1 mi²). 25.3 km² (9.8 mi²) of it is land and 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.75% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 591 people, 243 households, and 156 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 23.4/km² (60.6/mi²). There are 284 housing units at an average density of 11.2/km² (29.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 84.77% White, 1.18% African American, 3.55% Native American, 0.34% Asian, 0.17% Pacific Islander, 0.85% from other races, and 9.14% from two or more races. 1.35% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 243 households out of which 27.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.9% are married couples living together, 7.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.8% are non-families. 28.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.42 and the average family size is 2.95. In the CDP the population is spread out with 25.0% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 30.3% from 45 to 64, and 12.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 41 years. For every 100 females there are 100.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.8 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $40,385, and the median income for a family is $45,313. Males have a median income of $36,500 versus $24,063 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $17,335. 15.2% of the population and 11.3% of families are below the poverty line.
