Queen For A Day

Queen for a Day was an American Radio and TV show. The show was running on radio from 1945 to 1957. It was adapted for local TV in 1952 and lasted as a daytime game show for NBC and ABC from 1956 to 1964. Both Radio and TV show were hosted by Jack Bailey, who on each show had four women tell the audience how awful their life was. The studio audience used an "applause meter" to pick the winner who got to wear a crown and a red velvet robe. In addition, the winner received gifts — typically household appliances to improve her miserable life. The format was tried again with Dick Curtis as the host from 1969 to 1970.
