. The
Quebec Conservative Party
under
Pierre-Joseph-Olivier Chauveau
defeated the
Quebec Liberal Party
under
Henri-Gustave Joly de Lotbinire
. The electoral district of Kamouraska remained vacant, and was filled in a later
by-election
in
1869
.
