Quarashi

Quarashi is a rock/rap band from Iceland. They hit the mainstream in 2002 with their single "Stick 'Em Up" off their major label debut album Jinx. They have also contributed from the album the song "Baseline" for the Playstation 2 game Amplitude. Various comparisons from Limp Bizkit to Rage Against the Machine to Beastie Boys have been made, but the band has attempted to find a niche of their own with a blend of hip-hop, punk, industrial rock. The name "Quarashi" was a surname of the Muslim prophet Muhammad and became a nickname that was given to rapper and graffiti artist Stoney Fjelsted, which ended up being applied to various walls as his tag around Reykjavik. When the band was deciding names, it seemed to fit.
