Cameroon
is divided into 10 provinces:
Adamawa Province
(Adamaoua) - capital
Ngaoundr
Centre Province
- capital
Yaound
East Province
(Est) - capital
Bertoua
Extreme North Province
(Extrme-Nord) - capital
Maroua
Littoral Province
- capital
Douala
North Province
(Nord) - capital
Garoua
Northwest Province
(Nord-Ouest) - capital
Bamenda
West Province
(Ouest) - capital
Bafoussam
South Province
(Sud) - capital
Ebolowa
Southwest Province
(Sud-Ouest) - capital
Bua
Most of these provinces were designated in the
1960s
alongside
Centre-South Province
(split into Centre and Sud in
1983
). At the same time, Adamawa and Extreme-Nord Provinces were split from North Province.
