Proto-slavic Language

Proto-Slavic is the proto-language of the Slavic languages. It was spoken before the 6th century. The first written Slavic language is Old Church Slavonic, dating from the 9th century, based on the dialect of Thessaloniki at that time. See also: Common Slavonic, Balto-Slavic languages.
