polychord (dict)

Polychord

In music and music theory a polychord consists of two or more chords, one on top of the other, multiple chords. It is implied, however, that the two chords are constructed in different manners or are taken as a unit. Thus, while simultaneous chords in a bitonal piece may be called polychords, this is rarely found useful. See also: secundal, tertian, quartal.
