Police Story (1985)

The original Police Story (警察故事, lit. Police Story) is a 1985 Jackie Chan film. It is generally regarded as one of his greatest moments.

Cast includes

The film starts with Jackie's character Kevin Chan almost single handedly capturing a big drug lord named Mr. Ku. Chan is then assigned to keeping an eye on Mr. Ku's secretary Selina Fong so she can testify against Ku. Mr. Ku is soon released on bail however and plots revenge on Chan by framing him for the murder of another policeman. It is up to Chan to bring down Mr. Ku and the corrupt officers in league with him whilst avoiding arrest and trying to stop his girlfriend (who believes Fong is his new lover) from leaving him. The plot is not where this film shines however Chan's directorship ensures its brilliant execution. This film features some famous sequences including one where Jackie Chan hangs on to the back of a moving bus using only an umbrella and another where he must jump 10 feet seven or eight stories from the ground, slide down a pole connected to a live electric chandelier and crash through a glass roof.

Police Story 2 (1988)

Police Story 2 (警察故事2, lit. Police Story 2) is the 1988 sequel to the original Police Story, featuring many of the same actors and characters.

Police Story 3 (1992)

Main article Police Story 3 Police Story 3 (AKA Supercop, 警察故事3超級警察) is the 1992 sequel to Police Story 2 starring Michelle Yeoh alongside Jackie Chan. It is notable as the last appearance of Maggie Cheung as Jackie's girlfriend May before she moved on to be a more serious actress. Michelle Yeoh went on to star in a sequel to this film which cannot be considered a proper part of the Police Story series.

Police Story 4 (1996)

Police Story 4 (AKA First Strike, 簡單任務), the only film in the Police Story series made in English, is unlike the original Police Story films. Rather than taking place entirely in Hong Kong, the film has more of an international espionage plot, lending the film the air of a Chinese James Bond film.

New Police Story (2004)

New Police Story (新警察故事) is an attempt to update the Police Story series featuring Jackie Chan alongside popular newer Hong Kong actors such as Nicholas Tse.
