Pocklington

Pocklington is a market town situated on the Wolds in North Yorkshire, England. It is dominated by a 15th century church tower. The towns architecture is a mixture of quaint old houses and modern buildings and the town has several unusual street names. All Saints Church is known in the area as the Cathedral of the Wolds and it dates from the late 12th to early 15th century. Close by is the picturesque village of Warter where the thatched cottages and greens are popular with photographers and artists alike. Not far away is the village of Millington where Millington Wood is one of the few remaining wooded dales in the Wolds and is a popular beauty spot. William Wilberforce and Adrian Edmondson were educated at Pocklington public school.
