is the Greek name of an island in the
Black Sea
(16 km from the delta of the River
Danube
) actually held by
Ukraine
(USSR 1947 - 1992). Formerly a historic possession of
Romania
it was taken by
USSR
after the Hitler - Stalin Treaty. The Romanian name is "insula Serpilor" - the Snake Island. The Greeks say that the tomb of
Achilles
is located here.
