Petey Pablo (born Moses Barrett III) is an African American Southern hip hop musician from Greenville, North Carolina.

Biography

Pablo is an associate of record producer Timbaland (whose most famous discovery remains Missy Elliott), who had hoped to sign the rapper to his Beat Club label, but by the time he was ready to begin negotiations, Pablo had already signed with Jive Records. He made his first professional recordings in 2000 for number of album tracks for the second Timbaland & Magoo album, Indecent Proposal, which was delayed for release by Blackground Records until late 2001, after pablo had already become a success on his own. Pablo's first solo single was the Timbaland-produced "Raise Up", notable for its unusual rhythm track and Pablo's frantic, Mystikal-esque verses. A follow-up single, "I", featured a guest rap from Timbaland, and was a more moderate hit. These two singles were included on Pablo's first album, Diary Of A Sinner: 1st Entry, relased by Jive in 2002. The following year, he appeared on the song "Club Banger" from the 'Drumline'' soundtrack. In 2004, Pablo with his second album, Still Writing In My Diary: 2nd Entry, which included the Lil Jon-produced hit single "Freek-a-Leek". As of October 29, 2004, Petey Pablo ranked No. 3 on the world rapper charts.
