Peggy Wood

Peggy Wood (February 9, 1892 - March 18, 1978) was an American actress of film and television. A star of Broadway for decades, she is most known for her role as matriarch Marta Hansen on the television series Mama, which ran on the CBS network from 1949 to 1956. Another notable role that Wood played was of the gentle Mother Abbess in the 1965 film The Sound of Music, for which she received an Academy Award nomination. Wood, Peggy Wood, Peggy
