Paoli

Pasquale Paoli (1725 - 1807) (q.v.) was a Corsican general and patriot, who headed the unsuccessful Corsican struggle for independence, first from Genoa, then from France. Paoli is the name of some places in the United States of America that commemorate him: The Paoli Massacre was an incident in the American Revolutionary War near Paoli, Pennsylvania
