Palatine Bridge, New YorkPalatine Bridge is a village located in Montgomery County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 706. The Village of Palatine Bridge is in the Town of Palatine on Route 5. Geography The village is on the north side of the Mohawk River across from the Village of Canajoharie. Palatine Bridge is located at 42°54'39" North, 74°34'29" West (42.910890, -74.574827). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.5 km² (0.9 mi²). 2.3 km² (0.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 6.32% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 706 people, 276 households, and 179 families residing in the village. The population density is 306.3/km² (795.2/mi²). There are 306 housing units at an average density of 132.7/km² (344.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.30% White, 0.14% African American, 0.00% Native American, 1.27% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.28% from two or more races. 0.57% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 276 households out of which 25.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.5% are married couples living together, 10.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.8% are non-families. 31.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 20.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.30 and the average family size is 2.84. In the village the population is spread out with 20.5% under the age of 18, 4.0% from 18 to 24, 22.1% from 25 to 44, 19.1% from 45 to 64, and 34.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 48 years. For every 100 females there are 86.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 76.4 males. The median income for a household in the village is $32,361, and the median income for a family is $46,667. Males have a median income of $30,125 versus $22,014 for females. The per capita income for the village is $20,285. 11.8% of the population and 8.1% of families are below the poverty line.
