Pacific Comics

Pacific Comics was one of the independent comic book publishers that flourished in the early 1980s. Along with First Comics and Eclipse Comics 'PC' comics as it was known moved to take advantage of the growing Direct Distribution market. 'PC' managed to attract a number of writers and artists from DC and Marvel and as they were not subject to the Comics Code they were able to use more mature content. Notable titles by 'PC' included the six-part adaptation of Elric of Melnibon by Roy Thomas, P. Craig Russell and Michael T. Gilbert, Captain Victory by Jack Kirby, Nexus by Mike Baron and Steve Rude, The Rocketeer by Dave Stevens and Groo the Wanderer. The company stopped operating in 1984 with some of the surviving titles going to First and Eclipse.
