OurteDuring the French occupation of Belgium (1795-1814, the Napoleonic Empire), there was a dpartement de l'Ourte (without h), named after the river Ourthe. Its capital was Lige. It was subdivided into the following arrondissements and cantons: - Lige, cantons: Dalhem, Flron, Glons, Herve, Hollogne, Lige, Louveign, Seraing and Waremme.
- Huy, cantons: Avennes, Bodegne, Ferrires, Hron, Huy, Landen and Nandrin.
- Malmedy, cantons: Aubel, Eupen, Kronenburg, Limbourg, Malmedy, Sankt Vith, Schleiden, Spa, Stavelot, Verviers and Vielsalm.
Its territory corresponds more or less with that of the present Belgian province Lige.
