Order Of The Engineer

The Order of the Engineer is a professional organization for engineers in North America which concentrates on professional ethics. Before joining, members must agree to a code of ethics http://www.order-of-the-engineer.org/oblig.htm. Members are given a stainless steel ring to be worn on the little finger of the working hand. Originally started in Canada in the 1920's, The Order of the Engineer expanded into the United States starting in Ohio in the 1960's. In Canada the Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer includes an oath written by Rudyard Kipling at the request of Professor H.E.T. Haultain, of the University of Toronto, who was instrumental in founding the Order.
