Omanyte is one of the 151 original Pokmon in the video game and TV series. Being revived from a fossil in the video game, Omanyte is both Rock Type and Water Type. Omanyte resembles a squishy blue ammonite with a white shell. It evolves into Omastar. Omanyte is #138 in the original Pokmon series. Its Japanese name is Omunaito.

Name Origin

Omanyte's name originates from the word "ammonite". The origin of the first fix, "oma", is not totally clear. The Omu- in the Japanese name from which it is derived probably comes from "omu", the Japanese word for nautilus. It may possibly be a backwards spelling of "ammo-".
