Octobrist

The Octobrist Party (Russian Oktyabrist) was a non-revolutionary conservative-liberal Russian political party also called Union Of October 17 whose program of moderate constitutionalism called for the fulfillment of the emperor Nicholas II's October Manifesto. Founded in November 1905, the party was led by the industrialist Alexander Guchkov and drew support from liberal gentry, businessmen, and some bureaucrats. It was present during the 1917 February Revolution and Guchkov became Minister of War. It was swept aside by the October Revolution. This political party wanted the tsar as a figurehead in a constitutional government. The tsar would be a constitutional monarch. Their beliefs included private farming and further land reform.
