Norwest

The Norwest Corporation was a large bank corporation in Minneapolis with offices in many states until, after buying Wells Fargo of San Francisco in 1998, it changed its own name to Wells Fargo and moved its headquarters to San Francisco in 2000. That sequence of events may leave an erroneous impression that Wells Fargo acquired Norwest. Norwest was previously known as Northwest Bank Corporation.
