Niki

Niki is an airline owned and run by Niki Lauda. After being ousted from Lauda Air by boardroom politics in November 2000, in late 2003 Niki Lauda bought some planes from German airline Aero Lloyd which had gone bankrupt. The airline started with the temporary name FlyNiki. It operates as a budget airline mainly from Germany and Austria. On January 9, 2004, Niki announced cooperation with Air Berlin. The two airlines considered their cooperation a "low fares alliance". Air Berlin now holds 24 percent of Niki. See also: List of low-cost airlines
