Nicholas D. Kristof

Nicholas D. Kristof is a columnist for The New York Times whose specialty is East Asian affairs, especially those of the People's Republic of China. He is the author of several books, including
  • China Wakes: The struggle for the soul of a rising power (1994)
  • Thunder from the East: Portrait of a rising Asia
  • Japanese economy at the millennium
With his wife, Sheryl WuDunn, Kristof's reporting on the pro-democracy student movement and the related Tiananmen Square protests earned the couple a Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting in 1990. Kristof's NYT op-eds focus on environmental and human rights issues. Krstof was against U.S. intervention in Iraq, but promotes greater global intervention (presumably through the United Nations and other international groups) to stop genocide such as what is taking place in the on-going Darfur conflict in Sudan.
