Neste Rally Finland

The Neste Rally Finland (formerly known as 1000 Lakes Rally, renamed 1994 when Neste became the main sponsor) is a Rally event driven in the first weekend of August in the Jyvskyl area in Central Finland. The rally has been held since the 1950s, first as a national competition, and nowadays as Finland's WRC race. It is known as the "gravel grand prix", since it is the highest-speed rally in the championship. The most famous special stage is Ouninpohja, with its spectacular high speed jumps. However, Ouninpohja will have to be modified for 2005, since Petter Solberg exceeded the FIA's maximum average speed (130 km/h) there in 2004. The WRC teams voted Neste Rally Finland "Rally of the Year" in 1998 and 2003. For 2005, it is the tenth rally on the World Rally Championship schedule, held on August 5, 2005 through August 7, 2005.
