Nauru Detention CentreThe Nauru detention centre is an asylum seeker detention and processing centre on the tiny island nation of Nauru. It is fully funded by the Australian government, and houses people detained under the Pacific Solution. As of 20th February, 2004, 54 people are still detained in asylum seeker detention in Nauru, including: - 29 Afghanis including 7 children;
- 20 Iraqis, of whom:
- 14 have had their cases rejected
- 4 are waiting for the UNHCR to interview them
- 2 single mens' cases were re-opened, outcomes pending since November 2004.
- 2 Iranians
- 2 Bangladeshis (one Ahmadi, the other a Bihare refugee)
- 1 Pakistani
