National Trust Of AustraliaThe National Trust of Australia is a community-based, non-government organisation, committed to promoting and conserving Australia's indigenous, natural and historic heritage through its advocacy work and its custodianship of heritage places and objects. At the Australian national level there is a secretariat, the Australian Council of National Trusts (ACNT), that was formed in 1965. At the state level there are eight Australian State and Territory National Trusts in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, and Western Australia. Collectively the National Trust owns or manages over 300 heritage places (the majority held in perpetuity), and manages a volunteer workforce of 7000 while also employing about 350 people nationwide.
