National Banner SongThe "National Banner Song" ("國旗歌; goq gē") of the Republic of China is played during the raising and lowering of the Flag of the Republic of China. Due to pressure from the People's Republic of China over the political status of Taiwan, this song is played in place of the ROC national anthem at international events such as the Olympic Games where the ROC team also plays as "Chinese Taipei." Nonetheless, this song is in a way less controversial than the national anthem, in part because it is less partisan in nature (since the national anthem was also first the KMT party song). The lyrics were written in Classical Chinese by Tai Ch'uan-hsien (戴傳賢, Di Chunxin). The music was composed by Huang Tzu (黃自, Hung Z).
