Nanabush

Nanabush, in Ojibwe mythology, was a magician, teacher and hunter. He figures prominently in Ojibwe storytelling, including the story of the world's creation, and is the Ojibwe trickster figure and culture hero. (These two archetypes are often combined into a single figure in First Nations mythologies.) Nanabush was sent to Earth by Gitchi Manitou to teach the Ojibwe. He was the son of a human mother and a spirit father. One of his first tasks on Earth was to name the plants and animals.
