Muhammad Bin Tughluq

Muhammad bin Tughluq was the Sultan of Delhi from 1325 to 1351. He was the eldest son of Ghiyas ud din Tughluq. Ghiyas ud din sent the young Muhammad to the Deccan to campaign against the Kakatiya king Pratapa-rudra of Warangal. He succeeded to the Delhi throne after Ghiyas ud din's death in 1325. In the early part of his reign Muhammad moved the capital from Delhi to Devagiri in the Deccan, which he renamed Daulatabad. The move was shortly abandoned, and the capital moved back to Delhi. By the end of his reign, many of the further provinces of the empire were in revolt. Muhammad died while campaigning in Sind. He was succeeded by his cousin Firuz Shah Tughluq.
