Mount Hamilton (California)Mount Hamilton is a mountain in California's Diablo Range. It is one of the tallest mountains overlooking San Jose, California at 4,209 feet above sea level (and above San Jose); only the nearby Peaks of 4230-foot Isabel, 4372-foot Copernicus, and xxxx-foot Kepler are higher, but there is no road access to these peaks. Lick Observatory sits atop the mountain, for which its 19-mile access road was constructed. The asteroid 452 Halmiltonia is named after the mountain. The twisting, curving Mt. Hamilton Road is popular with bicyclists and motocyclists. In addition to its challenging ride, it is sparsely traveled over most of its length and provides spectacular views of San Jose and the rest of the Santa Clara Valley below. Mount Hamilton has its own zip code, 95140; it is generally uninhabited open space with a population in 2000 of only 35. http://www.hometownlocator.com/ZCTA.cfm?ZIPCode=95140 External links Hamilton, Mount
