Mount Dana Mount Dana is a mountain on the eastern edge of Yosemite National Park and is the second highest peak within the park after Mount Lyell. The Dana Meadows lie at the foot of the mountain. They are named after James Dwight Dana, a professor of geology at Yale. Mount Dana is composed of reddish metamorphic rock. Mount Dana is a class 1 climb (hike), 3 miles and 3100' elevation gain from the park entrance at Tioga Pass.
