Moosewood Restaurant

Moosewood Restaurant is an alternative/vegetarian restaurant that was founded in 1973 in downtown Ithaca, NY, a university town in upstate New York which is the location of Cornell University and Ithaca College, among others. It is located on the first floor of the Dewitt Mall building, which is a converted elementary school. Moosewood Restaurant is known for its vegetarian cooking, and was named one of the thirteen most influential restaurants of the 20th Century by Bon Appetit magazine. The restaurant is owned by a collective of people which operate the restaurant and write and publish cookbooks, most famously the Moosewood Cookbook, perhaps one of the most influential cookbooks in American culinary history.
