Moapa Valley, Nevada

Moapa Valley is a census-designated place located in Clark County, Nevada. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 5,784. The CDP includes the unincorporated towns of Logandale and Overton.

Geography

  Valley is located at 36°34'28" North, 114°27'29" West (36.574536, -114.457940). 
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 113.2 km² (43.7 mi²). 112.8 km² (43.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.30% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 5,784 people, 1,934 households, and 1,525 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 51.3/km² (132.7/mi²). There are 2,213 housing units at an average density of 19.6/km² (50.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 92.41% White, 0.24% African American, 0.66% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.36% Pacific Islander, 4.34% from other races, and 1.73% from two or more races. 9.09% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,934 households out of which 38.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.8% are married couples living together, 6.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.1% are non-families. 17.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.99 and the average family size is 3.43. In the CDP the population is spread out with 33.5% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 23.0% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 101.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.2 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $39,942, and the median income for a family is $47,575. Males have a median income of $42,348 versus $26,442 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $16,696. 6.9% of the population and 5.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 7.3% of those under the age of 18 and 8.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
