Miskan Island

Miskan Island is a small, uninhabited island to the south of Bubiyan Island. It is about 1.2 kilometers long and 800 meters wide. The distance between it and Failaka Island, which lies at its north, is two miles. The distance between Miskan and the nearest part of mainland Kuwait is about 24 kilometers. Miskan Island is void of any vital activity save a lighthouse to guide ships sailing in the Gulf at night. The lighthouse also warns sailors to evade approaching it because water is very shallow and may hinder deep wharfage ships. This island is important because it is a link in a chain of islands along Kuwaits coastline from north to south, which provide Kuwait with a defensive frontline. Oil prospects are promising and therefore Kuwait is expected to invest in the island economically.
