Minton's Playhouse

Minton's Playhouse was a bar and club, established by Henry Minton on West 118th Street in New York City in 1938. Many swing musicians associated in after-hours jam sessions at Minton's, and these sessions are often cited as important in the development of bebop, then dubbed "modern jazz".
