Milanese is a language (more commonly referred to as a dialect) spoken in the city of Milan and its metropolitan area. Like Italian, the other language spoken in those areas, Milanese is part of the Romance family of languages. Milanese does not have an official status in either Milan or other parts of Italy: the only official language in Milan is Italian.
