Mikhail Vasilyevich Vodopianov

Mikhail Vasilyevich Vodopianov (1899 - 1980) was a Soviet aircraft pilot, a Hero of the Soviet Union (1934), and a major-general of the Soviet Air Force. In 1934, he participated in the Arctic rescue of the crew of the sunken steamship "Cheliuskin". Vodopianov was awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union for this deed.
