Mike Barnicle

Mike Barnicle is a columnist and radio talk show host in the Boston area. He is a columnist for the Boston Herald and a regular contributor on the magazine show Chronicle and MSNBC's Hardball and Scarborough Country. Mike Barnicle also hosts a show on WTKK-FM. In 1998, Barnicle was forced to resign from his position as a columnist at the Boston Globe when he was accused of fabricating quotations. Earlier in 1998, Barnicle's plagiarism of George Carlin's book, 'Brain Droppings' was revealed. Notwithstanding these controversies, and perhaps because he consistently denied the accusations of fabrication, he did not become a "journalistic pariah" after the fashion of Janet Cooke and Jayson Blair. After a stint at the New York Daily News, he was hired in 2004 by the Globe's rival, the Boston Herald. Many years earlier, Barnicle appeared in Michael Ritchie's The Candidate as Wilson.
