Mia St. John

Mia Rosales St. John (born 1967) is a participant of the sport of women's boxing who is also a model, and a Tae Kwon Do champion. St. John, a Mexican-American who was born in San Francisco, California, went to the California State University, earning a degree in psychology. While there, she also earned a 27-1 record in Tae Kwon Do and a Black Belt. She also began her modeling career while at that educational institution. She married Kristoff St. John, star of Young and the Restless, but they later divorced. They remained friends, however, and he is still a part of her training team. The former world Lightweight champion Roberto Garcia, and her mother, Maria Rosales, also form part of that team, and her mother has given her advice on all her fights. St. John decided she wanted to go into professional boxing after graduating, and she started out on February 14 of 1997, knocking out Angelica Villian in only 54 seconds, and earning the nickname The Knockout. On April 19 of that year she proceeded to beat Dawn Graham, also in the first. St. John ran off a streak of 20 wins in a row before she was temporarily halted by a ski accident injury that almost caused one of her legs to be amputated. Among the boxers she beat before her accident was Melinda Robinson. She had to have two operations done in order to remove what could have turned into a gangrenous blood clot as a consequence of the accident. In November of 1999, St. John caused some stir by coming out on the cover of Playboy Magazine, and having the magazine publish an 11-page pictorial of her. She said that she did that to show that while she was a fighter, she was still a feminine woman. She kept fighting, and winning, until December 6 of 2002, when she met Christy Martin in Detroit, losing on a ten round decision for her first career defeat. On July 29 of 2004, she defeated Talia Smith by a four round unanimous decision. St. John, apart for being known for her boxing skills, is also known for her pink boxing attire, including her silky pink shorts, which are covered with silver glitter. She is also the mother of one. Currently, her boxing record stands at 25 wins, 1 loss, and 13 knockouts. St. John, Mia St John, Mia St. John, Mia St. John, Mia
