Metaline, WashingtonMetaline is a town located in Pend Oreille County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 162. History Metaline was officially incorporated on October 6, 1948. Geography is located at 48°51'7" North, 117°23'21" West (48.851978, -117.389141). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²). 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 162 people, 73 households, and 44 families residing in the town. The population density is 208.5/km² (533.5/mi²). There are 91 housing units at an average density of 117.1/km² (299.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 91.98% White, 0.00% African American, 1.23% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.62% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 6.17% from two or more races. 1.23% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 73 households out of which 26.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.2% are married couples living together, 11.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 38.4% are non-families. 35.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.22 and the average family size is 2.82. In the town the population is spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 4.3% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 30.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 110.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 118.2 males. The median income for a household in the town is $22,981, and the median income for a family is $23,750. Males have a median income of $35,000 versus $11,563 for females.
