MechagodzillaMechagodzilla was a fictional robot monster from various films in the Godzilla series, introduced in Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (1974). The first Mechagodzilla was created as a weapon of destruction by a race of ape-like aliens. It was eventually destroyed by Godzilla and the lion-dog god King Caesar. Mechagodzilla was rebuilt the next year, this time allied with the aquatic dinosaur Titanosaurus, but both were beaten by Godzilla. The second Mechagodzilla was created by the United Nations Godzilla Countermeasures Center as a measure of defense against Godzilla's attacks. Though it crippled Godzilla in battle, he eventually recovered and blew Mechagodzilla apart with a hyper-powered spiral ray. The third Mechagodzilla, known as Kiryu, was similar in origin to the second incarnation, except this time it contained the skeleton of the original Godzilla from 1954 within its metal. Kiryu was built by AMF, the Anti-Megalosaurus Force, and operated by the J.X.S.D.F, the Japan Xenomorph Self Defense Force. After two fights with Godzilla and an encounter with Mothra, Kiryu now rests at the bottom of the sea.
