Matins

Matins is the morning prayer service in the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox liturgies of the canonical hours. The term is also used in some Protestant denominations to describe morning services. After the Vatican Council II, the Matins of the Catholic Church has been reduced in length, giving more importance to Lauds. See also: Vespers
